Nile Rodgers Receives the Quincy Jones Achievemet Award
The Paid In Full Foundation Mission
Over the past several decades, Hip Hop music and culture rose from a local niche New York art form into a global phenomenon. In doing so, it has created countless careers, many fortunes, and, most importantly, gave hope and aspiration to a generation of young people.
Unfortunately, many of the most impactful original artists never received recognition proportional with their exceptional contributions to arts and culture. The Paid in Full Foundation aims to rectify that through its grantmaking program, by both honoring the people who built Hip Hop and enabling them to pursue their creative and intellectual pursuits for the benefit of society.
The Quincy Jones Achievement Award
Nile Rodgers stands as a rare legend—an innovator who shaped modern music’s sound and longevity. As co-founder of Chic, he crafted timeless anthems like “Le Freak” and “Good Times,” records that not only topped charts but formed the sonic foundation of Hip-Hop, R&B, and pop for generations.
A master guitarist and visionary producer, Rodgers has helped drive projects totaling over 500 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide. His chart-topping reach spans decades, with landmark collaborations on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance,” Diana Ross’s “I’m Coming Out,” and Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.” His signature style found renewed life in Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” placing him once again at the cultural center of the music world.
Rodgers’s achievements include multiple Grammys, Album of the Year with Daft Punk, and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Musical Excellence, his influence remains profound and enduring.
For his unparalleled contributions to music and culture, Nile Rodgers is honored with the Quincy Jones Achievement Award—celebrating a legacy that continues to move the world, one groove at a time.
