Being ruled "cancer-free" with a clean bill of health ranks pretty high on a list of a year of incredible highs. In fact, there've been far too many highs to list them all. Some of the highest points in my life come from charity work or giving back.

One of my old music teachers used to say, "The only way to keep it is to give it away!" I'm happy to be in a business where many people agree with that lesson.

A bunch of my friends will be joining me at an inaugural charity event called The Nile Rodgers Dance Party, which sort of says it all. At my events there's always a lot of dancing and a lot of partying... and we're doing it for a good cause.

My Random Access Memories colleagues Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, and I have donated 5 rare auction items that even I don't own. The only other person who has this is Jimmy Fallon, whom I presented it to when I played his show last week. All proceeds go to a charitable effort called AFTEE.
