New York, NY (January 22, 2019) - If you are one of the 800,000 federal government workers who has been furloughed or is forced to work without pay, Nile Rodgers & CHIC would like to help you “leave your cares behind” for a few hours.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame / Songwriters Hall Of Fame legend who wrote the #1 hits “Good Times” and “We Are Family”, amongst many others, is bringing his hit after hit show to the DMV’s MGM National Harbor and has arranged to give 600 tickets to government workers and their families who are currently feeling the devastating effects of the shutdown.
Nile Rodgers said, “Like many people, I’m frustrated by what’s happening and my heart goes out to these incredibly hard-working people who provide important service to our country, yet have had their lives, disrupted by circumstances, not of their doing. As a two-time cancer survivor, I believe music has a tremendous power and this is a small gesture I can make to provide some joy and healing. In one of my biggest songs I wrote, “We Are Family, I’ve got all my sisters with me”, I consider all of these people to be my brothers and sisters and I hope this lets them know that we are 100% behind them.”
If you are one of the 800,000 federal government employees who has been furloughed or is forced to work without pay and would like to attend the concert at the DMV’s MGM National Harbor on January 26th, please visit nilerodgers.com and complete the request form on the home page. The first 300 applicants will each receive a pair of tickets courtesy of Nile Rodgers.
The Washington, D.C. show is one in a limited series of special headlining events taking place while Nile Rodgers & CHIC tour US arenas with Cher on the “Here We Go Again Tour” in support of their new UK top 10 album “It’s About Time”. Every song in their set list is a Top 10 or Number 1 song! Current tour dates are below:
