I had just come home this morning from visiting with my mom, who is suffering from a very serious illness. I'd only been asleep for an hour or so when somebody called and started saying, "What happened? What happened?" It took a while before the cobwebs cleared and I realized they were talking about David. To hear this, as soon as I woke up, was completely shocking.
When people ask me about the most important people in my musical world, one, of course, was my musical partner, Bernard Edwards, with whom I formed Chic. The other was David Bowie.

Prior to his release earlier today, the designer told WWD, "Instead of having a traditional show this season, I decided to try something new. I wanted to think about how to present a collection in a cinematic way that was designed from its inception to be presented online."

Add a comment Add a commentAfter a period of (relative) career dormancy, Lady Gaga is having a bit of a renaissance this year. She received rave reviews for her Oscar-night performance in February, and spent most of the summer touring with Tony Bennett, on the heels of their album release; she was just named Billboard’s Woman of the Year, a year after Taylor Swift received the same honor; and she’ll be starring in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Show this fall. Another sign that Gaga is truly back on the pop-cultural radar: Tom Ford selected her to star in (and provide the music for) his spring/summer 2016 presentation.
Add a comment Add a commentTechnology was at the forefront of fashion week this season. There are models taking selfies on the runway, designers live-streaming and now brands taking their collections entirely digital.
Instead of a traditional runway show, Tom Ford made a video — starring none other than Lady Gaga — to showcase his spring 2016 line during Paris Fashion Week.
The video features Gaga, along with models dressed in Ford's collection, dancing to the pop star's cover of "I Want Your Love" by Nile Rodgers.
Add a comment Add a commentLady Gaga and Nile Rodgers have collaborated on an updated take on Chic's 1978 hit "I Want Your Love," which was then retrofitted to serve as the soundtrack for designer Tom Ford's Spring/Summer 2016 collection. In the Nick Knight-directed video to accompany the Chic cover, models dance down the runway like it was a Soul Train dance line, with Gaga herself showing up to showcase some of Ford's skimpier designs.

He founded the trendsetting disco group Chic in 1977 with Bernard Edward, and together they wrote, produced and recorded the dance music anthems "Le Freak" and Good Times." This acclaimed guitarist has collaborated with a who's who of rock and R&B, including Madonna, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Peter Gabriel, David Lee Roth, Jeff Beck, the B-52's, Luther Vandross, INXS, Johnny Mathis, Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire, Al Jarreau, and many more.
In 2014, Rodgers won the three first three Grammy Awards of his career as a featured artist on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories CD. He received Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Get Lucky." His performance with Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, and Stevie Wonder at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards on January 26, 2014 at Staples Center in Los Angeles was one of the greatest in the history of the Grammys.
On February 3, 2015, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) honored Rodgers "for his commitment to excellence and ongoing support for the art and craft of recorded music."
Add a comment Add a commentThe North Fork of Long Island New York is one of the hidden gems of the North Eastern portion of the United States. With the Long Island Sound on one side and a stretch of bays on the other, the villages from Riverhead out to Orient feature some beautiful natural landscapes, an abundant amount of wineries, and quaint feeling away from the stress of New York City. Enchanted by the area, back in August of 2013, legendary music producer and co-founder of Chic, Nile Rodgers, decided to host a charity concert with Adam Lambert as a guest at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead. A successful event, two years later Rodgers has returned inspired to bring a touch of music culture back to The East End, announcing the first ever Fold Festival. An abbreviation for Freak Out Let’s Dance, Fold Festival was scheduled to be held over two days, August 4th and 5th, gracing the grounds of Martha Clara Vineyeards, featuring a diverse lineup of some of the biggest names in the music. Setup amidst the beautiful vineyard, one large stage was constructed with the sprawling grape vineyards as the backdrop, as a smaller tented area stood a few thousand feet away for DJ sets throughout the night.
Estimated to draw nearly ten thousand people over the two days, one could imagine a massive traffic jam with the road system surrounding it only having one lane going each way. Thanks to the organization of Rodgers’ team there was no sign of any such jam as all concert attendees parked at an off site location and were bused over to the vineyard for the concert. With that worry out of everyone’s mind, the mood was relaxed and joyful as patrons walked into Martha Clara Vineyards on opening night, Tuesday the 4th, ready to dance their troubles away.
